Italian Charities of America upholds it long standing tradition of offering Italian language courses. Since our non-profit building was completed in 1951, we have held Italian language courses. We are currently offering online Italian language courses and have reached new horizons with students joining from all around the United States.

Registration for Summer Semester In-Person Courses!

Please see below for our Italian language course that is offered once a week over an 8-week course. 

Italian Level 1 Online Language Course – This course is for students who have never studied Italian before or who would like to continue working on and practicing the fundamentals of the Italian language. In this course we will learn about, work on, and practice Italian grammar, reading, writing, and spoken communication. Grammar will include nouns and adjectives and noun-adjective agreement, the present tense, the past tense, the imperfect tense, simple prepositions, possessive adjectives. This course will be offered in-person at our non-profit building in Queens, NY on Tuesday evenings once a week that begins on Tuesday, July 9th from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm EST and ends on August 27th.  The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with the information to purchase the book.

Winter/Spring 2024 Italian Language Courses

Italian Level 1 Online Language Course This course is for students who have never studied Italian before or who would like to continue working on and practicing the fundamentals of the Italian language. In this course we will learn about, work on, and practice Italian grammar, reading, writing, and spoken communication. Grammar will include nouns and adjectives and noun-adjective agreement, the present tense, the past tense, the imperfect tense, simple prepositions, possessive adjectives. The Italian Language Level 1 course begins on Tuesday, March 5th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm EST and ends on May 21st. The course will be offered virtually on Zoom and will consist of 12 lessons. The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with the information to purchase the book.

Italian Level 2 Online Language Course – This course is for students who have completed our Italian Level 1 course or wish to continue their study of Italian, to move beyond the present, past and imperfect tense. In this course, we will learn, work on, and practice Italian grammar, reading, writing and spoken communication of our writing. Grammar will include: the present progressive, future/conditional, reflexive verbs, si impersonal verb construction (an absolute necessity of Italian communication!), subjunctive, complex prepositions, direct object pronouns, and indirect object pronouns. This course will begin on Wednesday, March 6th from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm EST and ends on May 22nd. The course will be offered virtually on Zoom and will consist of 12 lessons. The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with information to purchase the book.

Italian Level 3 Online Language Course – This course is for students who have previously taken our Italian Level 1 and Level 2 courses or equivalent knowledge. This 12 week course is for students who wish to continue their study of Italian by delving more deeply into the forms and usages of verbs. In this course, we will work on and practice Italian grammar through reading (out loud), writing, and practicing dialogue. Grammar will include: past tense and imperfect usage, past tense agreement with the participle, stare + gerundio, si impersonale, the conditional mood, and the subjunctive mood, including pronouns (direct and indirect) and particles (ci and ni). This is a small-group course for dynamic one-on-one interaction among the students and with the professor. This course will begin on Sunday, March 3rd from 9:30 am to 11:00 am EST and ends on May 26th (skipping over March 30th). The course will be offered virtually on Zoom and will consist of 12 lessons. The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with information to purchase the book.

Italian Conversation Online Course –  This course is for students who have previously taken our Italian Level 1 and Level 2 courses or equivalent knowledge. This 12-week course is for students who wish to continue their study of Italian by practicing with conversation. In this course, we will work on and practice Italian grammar through reading (out loud), writing and practicing dialogue. This course will begin on Saturday, March 2nd from 11:15 am to 12:45 pm EST and ends on Saturday, May 25th (skipping over March 30th). The course will be offered virtually on Zoom and will consist of 12 lessons. The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with information to purchase the book.

 
Italian Verbs Online Course – The verb is the foundation of all language learning: how we express action, time, and place as we navigate the world around us through present, past and future tense. This intensive course will take us on a journey to encounter all 14 verb constructions in Italian, the 7 simple tenses and the 7 compound tenses, their form, function and use in grammar and everyday expression. In addition, we will dedicate time to learn and practice two of the most spoken verb constructions in Italian: il si impersonale and il gerundio. The course will start at the beginning with the present tense and its 3 key functions in Italian, revealing the differences in form and usage between Italian and English, such as the presence of two verbs “to be” in Italian, and only one in English. The course is open for any student who wishes to discover the full architecture of the Italian verb. This course will begin on Sunday, March 3rd from 11:15 am to 12:45 pm EST and ends on Sunday, May 26th (skipping over March 31st). The course will be offered virtually on Zoom and will consist of 12 lessons. The registration fee is $200.00 which must be paid in full by the first day of the course. A textbook is required, and a confirmation email will be sent out to registrants along with information to purchase the book.


Course Cancellation Policy: A refund of 50 percent will be given after the first lesson, no refunds honored after.
